Bernd Grohmann (53) is a Vorstand / Executive Vice President of eQ-3 AG. He was responsible for winning RWE, Bosch and Deutsche Telekom as OEMs plus driving the design and introduction of cosIP (the first IPv6-based home control protocol used for RWE), MAX!(the first solution for heating control via Internet and smartphones), an Homematic IP. Thereby, Grohmann was instrumental in developing eQ-3 to become the home control market leader in Europe, i.e. with over 30 million devices installed in over 2.7 million homes.

Grohmann has over 30 years of experience in business and technology management including 16+ years in home and building control. He is considered a profound expert in smart home and IoT (Internet of Things). Being a pioneer in TCP/IP technology since 1988, he previously held various management positions in marketing and sales and as CTO in high-tech companies in Germany, the USA, Denmark and Singapore.

Before joining eQ-3 AG, Grohmann was Vice President Product Marketing at the US-Danish manufacturer Zensys, where he was responsible, among other things, for setting up the Z-Wave Alliance. While building and managing the Communication Technology Center at Danfoss A/S, Grohmann played a significant role in the IoT standardization of IEEE802.15.4 and as Working Group Chair in the ZigBee Alliance. Furthermore, he was a co-initiator of the 6LoWPAN initiative of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
